DESCRIPTION:The Lompoc First United Methodist Church at 925 North F Street will have a\n\nFree Organ Concert on Saturday\, June 21 at 3:00 p.m.\n\n\nGuest organist will be Paul Woodring\, Cal Poly University Organist\, accompanist and coach.  He also serves the congregations of Mt. Carmel Lutheran Church and SLO United Methodist Church as Organist/Choir Director.\n\n\n\nPaul Woodring specialized in organ performance at Cal State Northridge\, studying under Sam Swartz and David Britton.  While there\, he won several prestigious awards\, including first prize in the Western Regional American Guild of Organists Competition.  He then studied organ and harpsichord in Vienna under Otto Bruckner and Elfriede Stadlmann.\n\n\n\nAs an accompanist\, Woodring has worked with some of America's finest concert choirs and opera companies\, including the Los Angeles Master Chorale\, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and the Los Angeles Opera Company.  In the San Luis Obispo area\, he has worked with Pacific Repertory Opera\, Mozart Festival\, Central Coast Children's Choir\, Cuesta Master Chorale\, Tolosa Strings and several musical theater organizations.\n\n\n\nWoodring's career as a piano and organ soloist has taken him throughout the United States and Europe.  He has performed solo recitals in many major venues of both continents.  In California\, he has been a featured organ soloist at Grace Cathedral (San Francisco)\, St. Mary's Cathedral (San Francisco)\, St. Paul's Cathedral (San Diego)\, St. Vibiana's (Los Angeles)\, and First Congregational Church (Los Angeles) amongst many others.\n\n\n\nThere will be a free reception honoring Paul after the concert.\n\n\n\nContact the church office at 736-1271 for more information about the concert.
