Following our wildly-successful Deep Sea Open House, the students of the Cabrillo High School Aquarium are moving closer to home, with this month's Open House theme - Tidepools! This event will focus on the intertidal zone and the organisms uniquely adapted to live within this turbulent ecosystem. Along with our permanent displays, visitors of all ages will be able to participate in activities such as an Animal Adaptations game, interactive tidepool presentations, crafts, and a scavenger hunt throughout the facility! The event is open to the public and admission is free. Located in the front of the Cabrillo High School campus, the Cabrillo High School Aquarium has worked since 1986 to promote stewardship of our oceans through a student-run, cross-curricular, project-based learning environment. The Aquarium's current 6,000 square foot facility opened in 2002 and now features over 20 live and static displays, maintained and hosted by Cabrillo High School students. The program welcomes over 6,000 visitors annually.
