The Lompoc First United Methodist Church at 925 North F Street will have a free piano concert on Sunday, 30 October at 3:00 p.m. Guest pianist will be Torsten Juul-Borre from Templeton. Torsten was born in Minnesota to Danish immigrants. His family moved to California in the early 1960's. He attended the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara. At the age of 17 he was accepted at the Royal Danish Music Conservatory in Copenhagen, Denmark. He has performed concerts in Denmark including the Tivoli Gardens Concert Hall and the Copenhagen Summer Music Festival at Charlottenborg Palace. Locally he has performed with the San Luis Obispo Symphony Orchestra, Cuesta College's Portraits in Music and has toured with the Community Concerts Association. Torsten recently returned from two months of concertizing in Sweden and Denmark.. He will be performing on the churches fully restored Chickering Concert Grand piano. It has been reported that the Chickering piano was the favorite instrument of Franz Liszt.
His concert will contain works by Lars-Erick Larsson, Johannes Brahms and Franz Liszt.
There will be a reception honoring Mr. Juul-Borre after the concert.
