Join the Leadership Lompoc Valley (LLV) class of 2016 as they raise funds for the Lompoc Food Pantry with a Poker Run! With five stops to receive a poker hand, all cars, trucks and motorcycles are welcome to play for just $25 per player.
Please register/check-in on the day of the event between 8:30 - 10:00 am at the Allan Hancock College Lompoc Valley Center parking lot at 1 Hancock Drive. Players will receive a map with details - stopping points will be the Motorcycle Museum in Solvang, Nojoqui Falls County Park and The Union Hotel in Los Alamos. Non-perishable food items will be accepted at check-in and all proceeds will benefit the Lompoc Food Pantry.
The ending point will be the American Legion Post 211 at 636 North H Street in Lompoc, with live music by Jacob Edward Cole and a BBQ! BBQ will be from 1:00 - 4:00 pm. The BBQ will include a half chicken, beans, bread and salad and it is included for all players. Additional BBQ meals may be purchased separately for non-players for $10 per person. There will also be a silent auction and opportunity drawings, with cash prizes for the best and worst poker hands.
The LLV class has a goal of raising $5,000 to help the Lompoc Food Pantry purchase a forklift to aid in accepting additional food donations. They are currently turning some donations away because they are unable to accept pallet deliveries from trucks without a forklift. The Lompoc Food Pantry currently serves over 6,009 families per year.
Over the past years, with the help from contributors and those attending the events organized by the community members participating in the Leadership Lompoc Valley program, funds have been raised for various charitable organizations and projects benefiting the city of Lompoc.
The purpose of Leadership Lompoc Valley (LLV) is to identify and develop a diverse group of effective community leaders committed to the economy and well-being of the community. Through a series of seminars and related activities, participants will meet the experts and key decision makers in areas of vital concern to the Lompoc Valley. The intent is for the class to become broadly informed about issues of importance they normally would not have the opportunity to explore and thus allow participants to become more effective leaders and members of our community.
